Canon was nice enough to give me the coming up Canon IXUS 300HS for some days to test this neat little cam. The first thing i really liked about it was unpacking it. I think my old Sony-Ericsson mobile was quite about the same size. (a liiittle bit smaller) The next thing i love about it – press “ON”, see the Canon-Logo for a second, and go! No annoying startup-time like many others still have. And the function that made me most curious – 240 frames per second, in QVGA (320×240 pixel). Not too big, but still enough for nice little youtube-clips. Before telling long stories about the camera, let me show you the result of my first hour with the camera. Unpacked, put aside the user manual (who reads them anyway) and went out with my dog for about an hour. Here´s what came out:
I didn´t do any color grading or editing at all, this is what came out of the camera. The only thing i did here is upscaling. The original clip is 320 x 240 pixel, i made it 480 x 360.
As you can see, the 240 fps is a wonderful function of this IXUS. You will have a lot of fun playing around with this. And with the software coming with the camera, you can quickly edit and save your stuff. No extra software needed.
As you can see the light was not too good that day. But the 2.0 lens does a great job here!
I hope i will soon find some time to do more clips, and of course some photos!
Update coming soon …
